Life is full of surprises ...: Chill out? Just the opposite.

It's too cold to think today, and on reflection it was not the best morning, weather-wise, to get a haircut!

You don't really want to know, but in case you do...

My name is Tim Lewis. I am an Anglican (Church of England) priest happily, hopefully faithfully, serving as the Rector of St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Bridgehampton, New York. And for reasons quite beyond me, I am also the Dean of Peconic, a group of some fifteen parishes, mission churches and summer chapels on the East End of Long Island. That translates into a pastoral care and support for the clergy who minister on that front line.

I have lived in the United States of America for over ten years, and continue to love and appreciate this great country, with all its differences and idiosyncrasies that for one of European mindset stand out all the clearer. I have many interests, and hope to express my enthusiasms for those hobbies and passions in these columns, as well as narrate my travels and experiences.

I served as a Chaplain in the Royal Navy for ... let's just say a long while, and on this blog I will, from time to time, write about some of the more memorable and funny instances that still come to mind. Plus, spending quality time in over forty countries, and listening to and learning from so many places and peoples is surely an excuse to write some more!

Why the title? Someone once told me that "life is full of surprises." Never a truer word was spoken!
